There is a new business open on Mt Mee Road.  The Pitstop, situated at 2070a Mt Mee Rd, is a craft shop that also has light refreshments and great coffee.
The owners, John and Kim Alexander, have been looking at opening something like this for many years but have not been able to secure a site. The site is probably one of the best on the mountain with views up and down the Mt Pleasant valley, past Dayboro and the North Pine Dam all the way to Brisbane City in the distance.  On a clear day you can see the sand dunes on Moreton and North Stradbroke Island.
Apart from the local crafts and collectables for sale, The Pitstop also has on display various car and motorcycle memorabilia as well as other interesting “old things”, with a different motorcycle from John’s collection every month.
The Pitstop is fast becoming a favorite refreshment stop for weekend motorcycle, bicycle and car day trippers who travel the Mt Mee tourist drive.  There has been very positive feedback from all visitors which include locals - who are very quickly becoming regulars - as well as tourists from as far away as Ireland, Japan, Africa and Switzerland.
It’s not only the overseas visitors who have their photo taken against the backdrop of the magnificent view, but locals as well.  It’s a view which has to be seen to be believed.  One visitor described it as: “When you look out at the view, time seems to stand still.”
The Pitstop is at 2070a Mt Mee Rd, near the Gerard Poed Gallery - look out for the old petrol pump and the flags up the driveway.  The opening days are Friday to Monday and the phone number is 3425 3652.
