Zen Bodytherapy® methods work by helping make changes in the structure, function, and energy of the human body.

Zen Bodytherapy® releases the natural form of the body from the aberrations and misalignments caused by physical, chemical, and emotional trauma.
Trauma is the residual negative memory of an acute or chronic event harboured in the brain and nervous system.  It often shows up as symptomatic pain and or dysfunction (reduced ability to make movements).
As an example, sitting at the computer with poor posture and shallow breathing may induce neck, shoulder or back pain.  Cumulative strain of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments, sends a message through the nervous system to the brain which may interpret it and then not act to make adjustments.
Even with the miraculous electronic tools at our fingertips, once the eyes get glued to the screen consciousness of the body’s posture quickly fades.  It doesn’t take very long for a new pattern to develop throughout the whole structure of the body which includes the strain and pain.
Lousy posture can be corrected by firstly being more aware of how one holds, adjusts, and carries their body at any given moment.  Next, the trauma needs to be brought to the surface, seen for what it is (confronted), and a choice made to let it go.
For symptoms related to the cumulative stress such as poor posture, we start with hands on techniques such as trigger point work (deep compression of tight, knotty feeling tissue), and open the space around the ribcage, back, and attachments to the diaphragm.  Oxygen is more available, CO2 can be discharged, and the nervous system is allowed to reset a new home base at the end of a deep, energy charged breath.
These principles can be applied throughout the whole body in a way that reopens lines of movement and recreates trust of using the body at its optimum potential again.
As the individual areas of trauma are freed of pain, surrounding segments assisting the transfer of movement and support are included to integrate and balance the body as a whole, stable foundation.
When the body feels better, it affects the other feeling centres on the emotional and mental planes as they are all part of us and inseparable.
Processing trauma out, reorganizing the body structure as a whole, smoother functioning system, and becoming aware of how to maintain the changes are just some of the benefits Zen Bodytherapy® has to offer.
