I have been using chiropractic and deep tissue massage for spinal problems for 25 years.
p18_david_weedon_64x66mm_100dpi.jpgI studied chiropractic in the 1980’s when the profession was being led by pioneers like Robert (Bob) Reville and Alan Plint and just starting to become established in Queensland.  It was in 1982 that official government registration of all chiropractors in Queensland commenced.
Personally, I have lived and worked in some of the hardest working and isolated parts of Australia, including mining towns and farming communities, where getting back to work fast is a priority.  There are very few back problems I have not encountered.  I am looking forward to working in Dayboro with its rural atmosphere and yet with a growing population of city commuters.
Chiropractic is a health care discipline based on the scientific premise that the body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. These important functions are controlled by the brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of the body. “Chiropractic” comes from the Greek word Chiropraktikos, meaning “done by hand.”
I believe chiropractic and deep tissue massage should be used together to help patients achieve healthy spines and joints.  For this reason I spend a considerable amount of time on muscle trigger points, relaxing the spinal muscles before manipulation.  This allows much easier adjustments, reducing joint trauma and helping to maintain joint integrity.
The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine, and pelvis) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.  Chiropractic also places an emphasis on nutrition and exercise and healthy lifestyle modifications.
How Does Chiropractic Work?
Chiropractic is based upon the understanding that a normally functioning nervous system is fundamental to good health. A common interference to the nervous system arises from the twenty four moving bones of the spinal column. A loss of normal motion or position of these bones can irritate or impair the function of the nervous system. This can disrupt the transmission of controlling nerve impulses resulting in pain.
Chiropractors aim to improve nervous system function primarily through chiropractic adjustments (with particular attention to the spine, skull and pelvis), to help remove any interference that may be impairing normal health.
