With the start of the new school year it is quite common for children to experience “growing pains” in the legs and feet during the day or at night.
Quite often these pains are very painful for the child and may keep them awake at night or reduce their desire to play. Unfortunately, because “growing pains” are often seen as a normal part of a child’s development, no treatment is sought.
However, many growing pains are caused by foot related issues. A podiatric check-up can often determine the cause of regular leg, ankle or foot pains. Common causes of leg, ankle and foot pains in children include flat or unstable feet. These pains can be also accompanied by clumsiness, knee pain and back pain. It is important to have any chronic leg or foot pain checked to prevent any long term damage and to return children to a happy, active life. Please phone 3425 1777 to make an appointment for an obligation free, FREE foot health check with your local Podiatrist, Sergio Gonzalez. Open Monday, Friday and Saturday mornings at the Dayboro Allied Health Centre, 1 McKenzie Street, Dayboro. |
