AROUND THE CLUBDayboro bowls club would like to keep our local community and our new families who have arrived into our town, updated with events and other general news.
Firstly we would like to update you on a couple of past events at the club.
There were two barefoot bowls days. The first one for the Dayboro rural firelighters was a successful day and enjoyed by all with a great deal of money raised for them.
For the McGrath foundation we had a barefoot bowls day, last month. It was a small group, but it was well supported and attended by a number of first time players. We have forwarded the money raised to the foundation. The bowls club is currently in the process of getting an EPTOS machine installed - we will keep you posted. To our members, just a reminder that on Sunday the 29th August at 9.00am we are holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Please come along and support the morning, in which we discuss our last 12 months of operation of the club; our financial status; our audit report; and re election of our management team. We would like to welcome to the club, Greg Lincoln, our new committee member. He will be a valuable asset to us with a lot of contacts in the liquor and gaming industry. The bowls club is currently in the process of applying for a Grant to have new kitchen built. We will keep you up to date on its progress. Your President,
Mick Bond
LADIES BOWLS NEWS July Financial Day: This day was generously sponsored by Electricity Credit Union (ECU). ECU Regional Manager, Karen Cook and Maggie from ECU Dayboro attended for lunch and presented the prizes. Next year we will be trying to convince them to come along and have a game of bowls with us. Audrey Ozanne's Kallangur team were the winners, with D. Vickery, Gemini the runners-up. The raffle on the day was donated by Suzelles Boutique, Dayboro and it was won by our own Tony Di Pompo. Thank you to both our sponsors on the day. Karen King won the second prize raffle with the Fruit and Veg going to Pat Walsh Pine Rivers and Clare Chambers, who was visiting on the day to catch up with friends from Stafford. Friendship Day: Our next day is planned for Wednesday 29 September, so if you would like to come along and try out bowls, this is a great day. Mark it on the calendar and if you would like to know any more contact Edna Wruck 3425 1119.
Wednesdays 9.00am morning tea for 9.30am play. Cost is just $5. If you would like to try bowls, everyone welcome. Bowls can be provided. Flat shoes required.
Eleanor Williams,
Secretary.
