With the Fun-Run season underway and the weather typically mild here in south-east Queensland, local Fitness Professional, Sandra Mayberry is busy readying her clientele of mature and motivated ladies to enter the Bridge to Brisbane Fun-Run/Walk team event which is only 6 weeks away on Sunday 29 August.
Many women who have come to Sandra of ESP Fitness have approached their forties and fifties thinking that the way they have slowed down, become tired, lethargic and often overweight with high blood pressure and high cholesterol is just a normal part of life. The last thing they would have thought of participating in was a Fun-Run.
Until 18 months ago, Sandra understood very well why they would think like that. That is until she began strength and fitness training with a personal trainer. With a dramatic change in her level of energy, strength and passion for life again, Sandra set about studying to go out and improve the lives of other women in that often forgotten age bracket.
With a business less than 12 months old, Sandra has a following of ladies who have improved their strength and fitness, lost kilos, increased energy, lowered their blood pressure and cholesterol, and have enough passion for life again to now go out to conquer the Bridge to Brisbane.
Ladies are instructed in functional and safe strength training to begin to replace the 2 - 3 kg muscle mass that is typically lost per decade due to our increasingly sedentary lifestyles. That increased muscle mass improves the individual's ability to perform daily tasks more easily before tiring and aids the body's ability to burn excess fat faster, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol in the process.
