horseriders_4triders.gifThe ‘Big October Ride’ was again very successful, having the most riders ever (about 30 more than last year), with 126 on the short ride and 86 on the long ride.
The ride through town in the morning each year brings more spectators and we extend a BIG thank you to policeman, Troy for the escort, to the APEX for the manure run and the Rural Fire Brigade at the back to keep the traffic off our heels.  Our club wishes to thank the drivers for their patience and for those who pulled over to the side to allow the parade through town.
When the ride reached the cemetery it split into the 3 and 7 hour rides with the 3 hour going through the park behind Flewell-Smith’s; across the river; around the back towards Lacey’s Creek and back down the river to the show grounds,  arriving back for lunch.
The long ride (7 hrs) continued up towards Mt Pleasant; Oceanview; down towards and along Dayboro Road; Fingerboard Road to the show grounds, arriving back a bit later than normal.
The meals and entertainment were excellent with Cousin Jack keeping everyone dancing right through the night.  Once again thank you to APEX for working the bar (this year their staff was more attractive early in the night).  To the backup crews who bring the cold drinks, oranges, horse floats and any other bits and pieces we require, thanks once again.  Our thanks to the wonderful property owners who kindly allow us to traverse their properties - the ride would not be possible without you.
