Our club’s last ride for the year was on the 22nd of November (fourth Sunday) where we attracted 28 riders.

The ride left the showgrounds on the north side and travelled to Sellin Road; Hamilton Road; Mount Pleasant Road, across the river, Lacey’s Creek Road; Rowe Road, down the river to the park, Riverview Court; McKenzie Street and back to the showgrounds.
Unfortunately, during the ride, one horse kicked another; that horse pig rooted and a second rider was thrown.  The second rider had to be picked up by car and brought back to the club house, then later taken to a medical centre.  After treatment the rider went home but was in a lot of pain for some time.
In spite of the falls though, the remainder of the ride went really well.  We enjoyed the views and open spaces of our beautiful valley, followed by our usual meals and drinks.
The club’s annual Christmas Party and break up was held two weeks later, complete with our sponsors, property owners and members with their families.  In all, 82 people accepted the invitation for the day.  This is always a really good communal get together and with food organised by Lorraine Bailey; turkeys and ham cooked by Dayboro Party Hire (Deb & Gavin), we enjoyed a great feast.
This year we especially enjoyed about 45mm rain which fell during lunch, cooling us all off.  It was also the first downpour of the rain we have been enjoying lately that’s bringing on the beautiful green grass.
The club awarded certificates to Karen and Kevin King, Neville and Joan Stewart and Eleanor Wright for the cattle they generously provide for our Team Penning events at the Dayboro Show.
Bob Ebert was awarded Club Person of the year and presented with a trophy.
Kayleen Giles was also awarded a trophy for her many tireless hours and great work.
Bob Ebert and Selwyn Barr were elected the club’s first ever ‘Life Members’ for their continued work, assistance and support of the club (which has been over a long period of many, many years).
The club’s Annual General Meeting and election of Officers will be held on the 11th February, 2010 at 7:30pm.  All welcome, club shed, Dayboro Showgrounds.   Our AGM is followed by the first general meeting of the year.
The 2010 membership form is available from our web site www.dayborotrailriders.com.a and you will need to be a financial member to vote.
Remember we ride on the 4th Sunday of each month (except December when we have no ride and October – Big October Ride is always on a Saturday).  Ensure you are at the showgrounds by no later than 8am.
Our year and ride calendar are planned at the meeting on 11th February, however 2010’s proposed rides are 24th Jan; 28th Feb; 28th Mar; 25th Apr and the Anzac Day march; 23rd May; 27th Jun; 25th Jul; 22 Aug; 26th Sep; Saturday 23rd Oct; 28th Nov.
