A reminder that we ride the fourth Sunday of each month (except Dec) and welcome all riders. For more info please contact Kayleen 3425 1650 or myself, Debby Kirkwood 3425 1968.
The last club ride was meant to be an all dayer out to Lacey’s Creek; unfortunately the rain put a stop to that one, so a hand full of members with very fresh horses headed out toward Bakers.
There were numerous water crossings, the final one being the Glover Road/Juff’s Crossing causeway. I took one look at it and thought ‘you’ve got to be kidding’. Water was gushing over the entire causeway and as you waded through you could feel your horse working against the strong flow of the water to get across. We all made it across and returned to the showgrounds for lunch. A week later a number of members and their horses enjoyed the sunshine and took part in the Dayboro Day Parade. To follow is a report written by Bob Ebert, who took part in the Kilkivan Great Horse Ride. Our club was again awarded the “Best Presented Horse Club” title at the Kilkivan Great Horse Ride in April and while we were down in numbers attending, we were up on enthusiasm for this great ride. Should you ever decide to participate there are four rides to choose from, one leaves the showground, one from Woolooga, one from Widgee and one from Tansey. There is no other ride like this anywhere in Australia and it is the envy of riders from other states who cannot imagine what it would be like to ride down the Bi-centennial National Trail and Main Street with 1,000 horses and riders. The number of riders was approximately 400 less this year than in the past but the ride was just as awesome. So if you have a horse, or are able to borrow one, you really should do this ride at least once. Happy Trails. |
