Kin Kin was the place to be weekend of 8th August. Club members travelled up to Kin Kin for a weekend of horse trail riding that by all accounts was fantastic. Great weather, great company, great place, great riding. Another annual trail ride not to miss is the club’s 11th annual ‘Big October Ride’, Saturday 24th Oct.
We run two non-competitive, leisurely paced trail rides. They depart from and return to the Memorial (Show) Grounds. Both rides are open to the public; all you need is your own horse and riding gear. But don’t be late, rides muster at 8am and are gone by 8:30.
Happy Trails, Riders can choose between a 3hr ride and a 7hr ride. Traditionally both rides travel down the main street of Dayboro together, where they create quite a spectacle, before splitting in two. The 3hr ride traversing the valley and river. The 7hr ride rising up above it all to the mountains, where on a clear day the views of Moreton Bay or the Glass House Mountains are fantastic. Whilst not competitive, riders and horses do need to be fit and competent enough to take part. Please leave your stallions, rigs and dogs at home. Rules and insurance fees apply. ATHRA members receive a discount. Camping grounds (where you can set up yourself and your horse) are available. Other facilities include power; hot showers; show ring; rodeo arena; some yards (which cannot be pre booked) and catering will be available across the weekend. After a fantastic day’s riding and a few hours rest get ready for more. At the show ground pavilion Saturday evening there will be a licensed bar (strictly no BYO alcohol) with the very popular ‘Cousin Jack’ providing entertainment. We’ve met some great people and absolute characters at this event in years gone by. Riders and their horses have come from all over Queensland and northern New South Wales to take part. We hope to see them all again and if you haven’t been before come along and be introduced to some of the beautiful areas in Dayboro that you don’t normally get to see. Pre bookings preferred – to guarantee meals and ease congestion on Saturday morning. www.dayborotrailriders.com.au or contact 07 3425 1651, 3425 1165, 3425 3243, 3425 1968. Debby Kirkwood. |
