Dayboro Pony Club members have been out trying their hand at a number of activities of late.  Most recently we had 11 riders compete at the Burpengary One Day Event.
A One Day Event consists of three phases where the same horse and rider combination test their ability and stamina in the Dressage, Cross Country Jumping and Showjumping.  These three phases are performed in one day.  The combination with least amount of penalties at the end of the test is the winner.  Of the 11 Dayboro riders there were 5 seniors (over 26 years) and 6 junior riders.  Our junior riders did very well bringing home 2 firsts, 2 thirds and one fifth.  Our senior riders did well also and all had a good time and managed to stay on their mounts!!
On the weekend of the Dayboro Rodeo many members gave a hand running the canteen near the Rodeo Arena, keeping hungry spectators and competitors satisfied.  Thank you to all who gave up their time for this important day on our calendar.
Three of our little riders went to the Zone Camp on the same weekend which was held at Kilcoy this year.  It was an exciting weekend for these littlies, riding ALL day and camping out in their horse floats overnight.
We are now looking forward to the Dayboro Show (9, 10 and 11 July) where we will help run the sporting events, as well as ride in them, on Friday morning.  This will get us all in practice for our own Gymkhana being held in August.  Then we will focus our attention on our Showjumping Day being held in September.
Some of our newer members have been expanding on their experiences at Muster days.  The instructors set an obstacle course as a new challenge which included a tarpaulin that riders had to walk their horses over.  Some horses decided that the tarp could not be trusted and needed some encouragement to approach it.  By all accounts they were all persuaded and the riders went home delighted.
Our next Muster days are being held on 12th, 26th June and 4th, 24th July.  Anyone wishing to come along and see what Pony Club is all about is welcome.  Inquiries can be directed to our Club Secretary, Dianne Bell, 3425 1137.
