Another huge year for Lachy Ferguson.
His week days still start at 5.10am and travels on average, every second week to Tennis Tournaments all over the state and soon to be interstate.  He has won 5 major tournaments this year and has just started to play Australian Ranking Tournaments in the under 13 year old division. He has achieved excellent results and will play in this division for another 18 months.

Lachlan now has an official Australian Ranking.  To put it in perspective there is Lleyton Hewitt ranked number 1 and Lachlan around 2000.  This is a very respectable ranking for an 11 year old.  He has his sights set on being around 600 this time next year. He is currently ranked number 1 in the 11 years Junior Masters Circuit and has qualified for the Junior Masters Finals in Rockhampton later this year.lachy_ferguson250x259px_200dpi.jpg
The exciting news is that Lachlan has been invited to play in an International event in Cairns which started on the 21st May. The twist is that he was also meant to be at the Metropolitan School boy trials in Brisbane on the same day.  Luckily Tournament organizers rearranged the draw which allowed a mad dash for the airport to be in Cairns that evening ready to play.
This Tournament is played in 50 countries throughout the world with winners of each age group from each country qualifying to play in the world finals in Paris at the end of July.  The best Juniors from all over Australia will be playing for this privilege.
Lachy does not get to spend much time in Dayboro these days but still considers himself a local through and through.  He carries the Dayboro banner proudly wherever he is.
Craig Ferguson. (Lachy’s proud Dad)
STOP PRESS:  Lachy Ferguson won in Cairns in the ITF (International Tennis Federation) sanctioned tournament.
Winning the combined 11 and 12 years division in singles and doubles, Lachy came home with 2 large trophies and an Age Champion medallion.
This is the largest Junior Tournament in the world and  contested in 50 countries.  The winners of each age group in each country are automatically eligible for the world finals to be held in Paris from 29th June to 5th July.
Tournament organisers have encouraged Lachy to go Paris for this event - Representing Australia in an International Tournament!! WOW!!  Lachy preparations will include practising on clay courts - France’s preferred surface.
Wonderful news - but scraping together the airfares in this short amount of time will be a big task.
