The next workshop in the series is:
Managing Waterways on Small Acreage Properties
Sunday 18th July - 9am to 3.30pm, Samford. Cost: $11.
The Pine Rivers Catchment Association is committed to helping local landholders to manage their properties in a way that supports our local flora, fauna and waterways. They have partnered with the Moreton Bay Regional Council and the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country, to provide a series of workshops on Small Acreage Sustainable Property Management.
Our waterways are our biodiversity highways of the catchment. They provide important linkages for wildlife from coastal areas to the cooler climates of the D’Aguilar Range, and the health of our local waterways effect the downstream health of our beautiful bay environments. Healthy waterways also help to improve the value and productivity of properties surrounding them. Participants will find out about the nature of waterways and what can be done to provide stability within these dynamic systems. Specifically you will learn how to assess the health of your waterways; how to repair erosion problems; how to enhance habitat and corridors for wildlife, and how to control pollution entering waterways. The workshop will be presented by Melanie Brennan, Pine Rivers Catchment Association Coordinator and will include a field visit to a local waterway. Participants will also be provided the opportunity to visit a local waterway to make and discuss observations (self-drive within Samford after lunch). Morning tea and lunch provided. Seating is limited so please rsvp to Melanie Brennan, Catchment Coordinator on 07 3325 1577 or 0438 199 102 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or visit their website to obtain a registration form www.prca.org.au |
