– Fruit and Vegies Homegrown
Samford Local Growers – Reduce your food miles and swap, buy and trade garden produce grown in your backyard.  Samford Local Growers is a community group established by people in the Samford Dayboro area.
The group aims to cultivate a food system incorporating local hobby growers, only from the Samford Dayboro region, and consumers seeking locally grown food.
The group commenced operating a local food stall at John Scott Park, in Samford, on the 11th July from 9-11am and this will be held fortnightly thereafter (i.e. 8th and 22nd Aug) .  In helping to transform our food system by giving consumers open disclosure; food growing methods, time from picking and distance travelled will be revealed on produce via a rating scheme.  Consumers should expect to pay very reasonable prices and are asked to be patient as this community endeavour grows.  Growers are not likely to be certified organic, however all growers would be expected to use organic practices in their food gardening.
The group is keen to support any hobby food grower in the region by providing an organised way of selling their excess produce. To help with managing this community venture, growers will be asked to drop off their produce on stall day at 8.00am. The group will operate the stall and pay growers same day for produce sold and growers will be expected to take back unsold produce.
Growers may seek to use this as an opportunity to make money or to provide food or moneys generated to other community groups and people in need. The stall will be a new avenue of local micro economic activity for the Samford Dayboro region and from a cultural perspective, hopefully a long term part of the ambience of Samford Village.

Cityfood Growers
Cityfood Growers has been an active contributor to the local food movement over the last 12 months. This business released its web site at www.cityfoodgrowers.com.au in mid 2008 and now has a large number of members in our region and around Australia. A big upgrade of the web site was released this week with new member features and additional gardening and plant content. There is also a free access food gardening forum on the web site, so please make use of it for your food gardening questions.
Cityfood Growers has also released some new services.
Food garden service  - This involves establishing and maintaining food gardens on  properties in the Samford Dayboro region. This is an especially good service for those of you who are too busy to get your food garden underway or need some expert help to improve garden and orchard productivity using organic methods. Picking of excess fruit in your orchards can also be organised as part of the service. This fruit can be sold via the Samford Local Growers food stall, see below.
Gardening workshops - These workshops are designed to introduce participants to productive biodynamic gardening methods. Workshops are held monthly in Samford.
