A surprisingly well attended AGM of the Mt Mee Neighbourhood Watch on Tuesday 16th June decided to continue with the Watch and elected new officers.
Incoming President Cynon Lowe said that to wind it up was unthinkable and that she intends to really get the show back on the road.
Cynon has a reputation for getting things done – her most recent independent project being the discovery and logging of emergency helicopter landing sites around the Mountain. Newly elected Secretary Cheryl Gunn, a recent arrival to our Mountain, has already shown a real interest in community affairs, and like Cynon, Cheryl is part of the Mt Mee Hall administration team. Fortunately, immediate Past President Frank Simpson continues as Vice President and his long experience will be a blessing for the incoming officers. Mt Mee Neighbourhood Watch has fallen on hard times over recent years. Meetings have been propped up by just a tiny handful of stalwarts and subscription support has been almost non-existent. Frank’s impassioned call to attend the AGM evidently struck a chord with residents. It implied serious threats to personal safety and to property unless the Watch was better supported.
