  132 500
– Spread the word
Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, said that Pine Rivers residents are being reminded that the SES 132 500 number is the only number to know this storm season.
Carolyn Male MP said the recent heavy rain across the state served as a timely reminder to spread the word about 132 500.
“This number is the most efficient way to get help for hail damage, roof damage and rising flood waters in the case of severe weather events,” Carolyn Male MP said.
The reminder comes after a new study found only 37% of Queenslanders knew 132 500 was the number to contact for the SES.
There were things everyone could do to minimise potential damage to life and property this storm season.
“By simply storing 132 500 in your phone under SES, you have quick access to help if you find yourself affected by storms,” Carolyn Male MP said.
“Make sure you discuss the SES 132 500 number with family, friends and neighbours – that way you can rest assured those near and dear to you know what to do when an emergency strikes.”
Also suggested is that the number be kept in a handy location, like on the fridge and in household emergency kits.
The number replaced more than 1,200 numbers previously used to contact the SES when it was introduced in Queensland on 1 July 2007.
“It has provided a source of assistance to Queensland residents following several major weather related events including the Gap storms in late 2008 as well as flood affected Charleville and St George earlier this year,” Carolyn Male MP said.
Carolyn Male MP said SES volunteers were invaluable members of the community and are on hand to help us when Queenslanders need it most.
“While the orange angels, as they’re affectionately known, will be out in full force this storm season, they’ll also be called upon in other incidents including search operations and emergency situations.
It’s handy to know the SES can be contacted for all of these situations on the same number 132 500.”
Carolyn Male MP said the only time when Queenslanders should call triple zero (000) is in a life-threatening emergency.
