for Tree Day at Mt Mee
On Schools Tree Day, Mount Mee State School students pulled on the gardening gloves and planted 200 native seedlings in and around their school grounds.
Students, teachers, parents and community members were busy digging holes, planting, weeding, watering and getting down and dirty!
This national event is strongly supported by the school because of their passion for a clean and green school. Principal Trevor Buchanan and all the staff strive to ensure the students gain lifelong environment skills they can take with them beyond the school grounds. This small school of 86 students is privileged to share their grounds with the ‘Richard Thomas Environmental Centre’ which is a sanctuary for native flora and fauna. The students are proud to boast that the water quality of the school dam is ‘pristine’. To celebrate their hard work the students gathered on the school oval for some old fashioned games. Fun was had playing egg and spoon, sack and water races while enjoying a picnic under the trees! |
