lions_logo.jpgOpen Dinner Meeting:
Our next dinner meeting will be on Mon 22nd Feb, 7pm at the Dayboro Footy Club.  Our guest speakers will be Mike and Linda Lewis talking about their travel to Antarctica.
Meals are $12 or just come along for a chat.  Please ring Anita on 3425 1904 to order a meal.  Remember: It is not necessary to have a meal to attend – just turn up and have a beer and enjoy the evening with us.
MOVIES -  Next movie 20th February:
Despite inability to advertise, (school's out, papers on Christmas break) we still managed to attract an audience of 145 to that crazy and fascinating movie 'meatballs' in January.
Next movie is Planet 51 – an animated adventure comedy about the reluctance of little green men on their planet to accept earthling astronauts.  It has a stunning soundtrack of popular songs.
What we are up to:
Christmas and the new year has started to produce community tasks which the Lions have always supported.  This includes logistic help at the Samsonvale Carols under-the-tree, a tradition that has been kept alive for dozens of years by Samsonvale’s Ian Kent, Eleanor Wight and a few others.  We provided and packed lolly bags for Santa’s run through the town to hand out to lucky children, and it was good to see the quality of a copy of the school’s end-of-year booklet which we sponsor.
January’s sign-on days sees us providing support to local sporting clubs in producing vinyl advertising banners;  we revisit our alarm Necklace users to check that all is going well, and further installs are currently ongoing.
Our January business meeting planned several events for the year, and we are keen for new active members to help support the community with us.
Lions are an international organisation, and it is good to see that immediately – days - after the Haiti tragedy, the organisation was getting funds and provisions to the poor individuals suffering this tragedy.
