lions_logo.jpgMay is a busy month for Lions and other community groups.  Parking on Rodeo Day, lead-up to Dayboro Day, etc.  The PA system has had extensive use to support a series of community and other events, and is showing signs of this.  Better it wears out than is denied use!!  The vinyl cutter has been running hot.
MEETINGS
Come along to our next gathering to meet us, or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or phone President Stewie: 0421 990 705 for a chat.
The next open dinner meeting at the Footy club is on 22nd June.  ing to find out about the speaker for this meeting, as this information was unavailable prior to publication of this edition.
lions_steve_and_ian_200x189px_200dpi_clr.jpgThe first phase roll-out of 10 alarm necklaces has been completed with the installation and commissioning Team (see pic) being warmly received by the recipients.  The amazing Lion Steve Durley, who has also taken on a First Responders role, is part of this team, and we are pleased that he can ensure that the activation of the alarm will be well received.
These units, chosen after research, are excellent in design and use,  and I would like to commend these splendid pieces of equipment.  The Lions purchase these $300 kits for a small discount and they include a keysafe.  Lions then hire these out at a nominal $5 per month, which is collected every 4 months on a courtesy visit to ensure all is well.  There is no other ongoing fees.  Monies collected go to maintenance and purchase of more units.  Please contact us if you wish to be added to the list to receive these life-saving units.  I would add that if anyone wants to purchase one outright (i.e. to own one of these), then we can help here too.  The Lions team is now experienced at installation and we can set up the system for you, to save you the apprehension over the possibly confusing technology.
ANNUAL CHANGEOVER
The upcoming changeover dinner in June will see the installation of new officers:
President will be Stewie Bragg;  Fifi our Vice-President;  Ian Flinders the Secretary; and the perennially blossoming Marj Barnett will hold the purse-strings as the Treasurer.
MOVIE NIGHTS
News of the Lions Dayboro monthly Community Cinema success is spreading, and I have fielded several enquiries from surrounding areas wanting to do the same.  Logistic and copyright difficulties have put off most.  Samford Lions Club were guests at the May movie.  The next movie on 20th June is the animated fun pic Monsters v Aliens.  This is suitable for the younger audience.
LIONS PURR, NOT BITE.
Have you thought of joining us?
All it takes is a positive attitude towards helping others in the community, and a willingness to give some help.
We are an eclectic mob with expertise in a diverse set of skills.  Some are good at digging holes and concreting, some with technical matters, some with project organisation, and some at car-parking and selling hot-dogs.  We have cooks and bottle-washers, and of course we have expert barmen!!
In the agreeable Dayboro fashion, there is no roll-call at meetings, and no compulsion for a member to be involved in any particular activity, and we have members lurking with infrequent, yet invaluable inputs in their fields when required.  As with all voluntary work, the richness of the acts and the warmth of this community provides unexpected open doors to friendships and pleasures that cannot be realised by independence.
….More Next Month
