lions_logo.jpgMovies:
The March movie is "Fantastic Mr Fox", and will be screened on 20th March.
It is difficult to select future movies with reliability.  We couldn't get “Planet 51”, as it is distributed by Hoyts,  so Disney came to the rescue with "The Princess and the Frog".   This I thought would be a child's girlie flick, but it turned out not as expected.  It was a jazz-oriented movie set in New Orleans, and entertained the parents more than the kids!
35mm film is fast being overtaken by new digital media, and with the success of Avatar in cinemas which forced an upgrade to digital projectors,  the expense of producing film prints - at $5000+ cost per reel will soon no longer be available.  Two years left??
Necklace power supplies
The lightning storms have taken their toll on a few alarm necklace power supplies.  We have replaced them, and the dialler units are unaffected.  We have contacted the supplier to source a more robust plug-in unit, and will be keeping spares of these in case of future failures.
Monthly talk:
Mike and Linda Lewis presented a good view on Antarctica, with some wonderful pictures of this isolated and deserted place.
You are invited to the next Lions dinner meeting on Mon 22nd March, 7.00pm at the Dayboro Footy Club.
Come along for a chat and  listen to our Guest Speaker, Rob Goldstiver, talk about the Grand Traverse Walking Trail in New Zealand.
If you require a meal (cost $12) please let me know by Monday 15th March (so I can ring through meal numbers).
