MEN’S HEALTH NIGHT:
Well, about 130 people turned up at the Health Night. We were educated in a frank and open way by a set of health and sex professionals.
The genders were separated for some presentations, with the ‘sheilas’ being outside for this ‘blokey’ night. I will not write here what went on in the bloke's section, as women may read it! The Lions sponsored the bait of free beer - yes, it really happened! - and the good food prepared by healthy food expert Alison Taylor. It was a successful night at hitting the mark. I have spoken to many who clearly had a heads-up on their health and habits from that night, and the questions which were asked during open discussions had clear and very informative answers delivered, particularly by Drs David and Rod. A video of the evening is available. Show bags full of goodies, information and samples were handed out, including a very interesting envelope from Victoria, the brothel madame .... Maybe you should have been there?
Pictured are some of Dayboro’s team of Health Care professionals: Helen Webster (Mental Health Nurse), Dr Kate Mudie (General Practioner), Dr Paul Mattiussi (Dentist), Merryl Reville (Psycologist), Lynne Sawdon (Practice Manager), Carolyn Nugent (Practice Nurse).
LIONS MOVIES: The movie Harry Potter was again a success, and as expected, attracted an audience of higher average age. It was good to see some dress up to get into the spirit of things - pictured at left. NEXT MOVIE 17th October - CORALINE and the Secret Door” It is an animated story of a girl who has a strange adventure. It is presented as a kids movie, but has its scary moments. COME AND JOIN US: We are busy planning the support for events leading up to Christmas, and if you feel you want to support the community, then come and join us. We meet on the 2nd Monday of the month at the Council building for our business meeting, where decisions are made, and we have a laid-back open-to-all dinner meeting on the 4th Monday at the Footy Club. October's presentation on 26th will be young Lachy Ferguson, the Dayboro internationally seeded tennis star, who will be telling us about his experiences at the Paris International Tennis Event. We will be starting early for this young bloke, 6:30 pm. So come along, so that one day you can be skiting to your mates and granchildren that you've met him! . . . More next month Lion Ian |
