lions_logo.jpgLions have had a quiet month, giving their usual community support.  We operated our PA system for the newly chartered North Lakes Lions at the opening of their "Pride Park" up at North Lakes.
Have you taken a drive around there lately?  A huge urban development of housing estates and roundabouts - reminiscent of the city developments in England.  It was great to return to Dayboro!
There is a busy time coming up for our club.  If YOU would like to be involved and help us with community support, then please contact President Stewie on 0421 990 705, or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
There will not be a Dinner Meeting in April - instead we will be hosting the Diggers’ Lunch.
DIGGERS' LUNCH - April 24th, 12noon
Lions will again sponsor the ANZAC Diggers' Lunch.  This has been a tradition for many years now, and is provided out of respect and gratitude to Returned Servicemen from any posting.  We provide a good lunch and an after-lunch presentation.  The Lunch this year will be at the Footy Club on Saturday 24th April, 12:00 midday.  The speaker is scheduled to be LAC David Stark, a young soldier from Dayboro who is currently serving in the Australian Army.  He will present "Life in the Army in 2010".  Please contact Richard Hawkins, 3289 9208 if you wish to attend this event.
MOVIES:  The Dayboro Lions Community Cinema continues its monthly success, with 150 attendees at the March showing of Mr Fox.  Movies are always subject to the distributors allowing its release to us - generally not known until about three weeks before showing.  The possible movie for April was a dilemma; Avatar or Alice in Wonderland.  In the end though, it just had to be AVATAR - because “Alice . . .” won’t be available in time!!. . . .
APRIL MOVIE:      Avatar (M)
on Saturday 17th April, Starts 7:00pm sharp.
Your opportunity to see this award-winning movie, right here in Dayboro.  Please note - movie goes for 2 hrs 41 mins. Entry: $6 pp, or $18 per family.
CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY
Clean-up Australia Day was a problem this year, and needed to be re-scheduled to the following Sunday due to the rainfall.  Apex are the pivotal group in this venture, and Lions, Scouts and other good citizens take part.  I must give great credit to the Dayboro Scout Group for their excellent turn-out of enthusiastic members and leaders on this occasion.  It is pleasing to see such positive action by the young.
