Preparations are well under way for our inaugural show to be held at the Dayboro Poultry Pavilion on Sunday April 18.
There are categories for everyone from experienced breeders and showers to novice and first time entrants.
So come along and check us out either at the show or our meetings.
Our meetings are held on the third Tuesday every month at the Cedar Creek Public Hall in Closeburn from 7.00pm to 9.00pm with “coffee and a chat” afterwards.  We’d love to see you there!
At the February club meeting, Ross Jones and Marshall Scott, (known locally as the Blues Brothers), presented a very informative session on their Indian Game bantams.  They come in 3 colours—dark, jubilee and blue.  Ross and Marshall have won national awards with their blues.
Our March meeting featured the rare Red Jungle Fowl.  They are the wild ancestors of all domestic poultry and clearly one of the oldest domesticated birds with records dating back to 3200 BC in India and 1400 BC in China.  They are extremely rare in Australia and we are lucky to have some in our local area.  Darryl Andrew, a retired poultry judge, lead a discussion on Red Jungle Fowl and about keeping and caring for poultry generally.
