The hugely successful Dayboro Art Show, which premiered this year, will be back in 2010 thanks to a $3000 funding boost from the Moreton Bay Regional Council Community Grants Program.
Following the overwhelming popularity of the Dayboro Art Show this year, the Dayboro State School Parents and Citizens Association secured the funding to host the Show on March 27 and  28 in 2010.
The Dayboro Art Show is supported by the Dayboro Art Gallery and will once again feature work from professional artists and Primary School students.
The 2009 Show included works from over 140 artists and students, raising over $6000 in funds for the Dayboro State School.
Parents and Citizens Association President, Helen Rhue, said in its inaugural year the Show far exceeded expectations, and is set to become an important annual date on the Dayboro and surrounding areas calendar.
“The Dayboro Art Show will promote the existing local art culture, and strengthen the working relationship between the Dayboro Art Gallery and the School,” she said.
“But more importantly, this is a valuable social event for the whole community.”
Dayboro Art Gallery President, Robert Bradfield said Dayboro provided the ideal setting for this type of Show, as it appealed to a wide sector of the community.
”People can expect to see a variety of artwork using different styles and mediums as well as pottery and sculpture,” he said.
“Dayboro is close to Brisbane and the quaint village atmosphere and lovely surrounds attracts artists and tourists alike.”
Any interested community members can get involved in the 2010 Dayboro Art Show by submitting artworks, providing cash or product sponsorship, attending the ticketed opening evening or by simply coming along on the day to support the event.
More information, including artist entry forms will be available in the coming months via the Dayboro Art Gallery website (www.dayboroartworks.asn.au).
Dayboro, located 45 kilometres north west of Brisbane City Centre, can be reached via either Petrie or Samford – or from ‘over the range’ along Mt Mee Road .
