OUR APOLOGIES TO ALL - This was a repeat of the September edition article. Scroll down past this article to view what should have been included in our printed December edition!!
Our last ride attracted 26 riders including 3 visitors on a very cold day with plenty of water running in all of the creeks and river, as one of our riders found out, unfortunately. It was one of our shorter rides and the BBQ lunch warmed up everyone afterwards to end another great day horse riding.
A few of our members trialed a moonlight ride to the Glass House Mountains with the possibility of a club ride in the near future. It proved to be a great ride with spectacular views across the forestry and coastal islands.
Our Club provided one third of the riders who participated in the scenic Kin Kin Ride on the weekend of 9th and 10th August. It was the third time we attended as a club to enjoy a really great ride with views across Lake Cootharaba, Noosa Northshore, Teewah Sand Blow and the mountains of Pomona. We can recommend the Kin Kin pub, which has been refurbished, for great meals and rooms and informative historical photos on the walls.
The Noosa Trail Network is recognized Australia wide as being the ideal recreational trail for horse riding, walking and mountain bike riding, with the assistance of property owners, Council and Community groups working together. Now that the E.I. has passed our Big October Ride is on again this year on Saturday, 25th October with a three hour ride and a seven hour ride. More on this next month. For any information on our Club go to www.dayborotrailriders.com.au or contact Kayleen Giles on 3425 1650 or Bob Ebert on 3425 1651. Bob Ebert, President.
CORRECT DECEMBER ARTICLE (N.B. This will be appearing in our February 2009 print edition):
The Big October Ride was, once again, well attended and very successful.
The two rides attracted 180 riders and we left the Showgrounds at 8.30am with Ken, Officer in Charge, Dayboro Police, leading us down Mt Mee Road, up Williams Street and then right into McKenzie Street. The “short” ride turned off at the cemetery and the “long” ride continued to Sellin Road. The Dayboro Rural Fire Brigade brought up the rear and the Apex Club picked up the horse poo. Our Club extends a BIG THANK YOU to Ken Robinson; Glenn Bell and his crew; and the Apex crew, for their invaluable assistance. The “short” ride had 96 riders and the “long” ride 84, with no injuries - although 4 riders had a bit of a swim at different points on the trails! Our back up crews did a magnificent job providing cold water, cordial, orange slices and Minties at various points and also assisting with lunch at Ocean View for the “long” ride. Riders on the “long” ride’s return journey, through Joe Bradley’s property, were well and truly drenched after being caught in a hail storm - a different experience! The function Saturday night saw Sharryn Bell have everyone enjoying some great music and dancing right up to the end. Our thanks to the Grapevine for a great article on our “Big October Ride” in October’s magazine. There will be no ride in December, however, our Christmas breakup will be on 14th December. The first ride in 2009 will be on Sunday 25th January. Our Annual General Meeting will be on Thursday 12th February 2009. For any further information on our Club, go to www.dayborotrailriders.com.au or contact either of the following people: Kayleen - 3425 1650 or Bob - 3425 1651. Bob Ebert, President. |
