OCEAN VIEW WINERY & RESTAURANT WINS QUEENSLAND TOURISM AWARD:
Best in Queensland and they are local – how good does it get? At the Queensland Tourism Awards held at the Brisbane Convention Centre on 4th November 2011, Ocean View Winery & Restaurant were announced the winners in the category of Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Boutique Breweries. They now go through to compete in the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards to be held in March 2012. VISITOR STATISTICS: The following are comparisons for the three months from August to October for the past 3 years for visitors to “Dayboro Cottage” 2011: August 405 September 387 October 329 Total 1121 2010: August 369 September 459 October 318 Total 1146 2009: August 410 September 393 October 433 Total 1236 NEW BUSINESSES: Two new businesses have opened in Dayboro over recent weeks but unfortunately one business has closed and another will be closing early next year. A LITTLE BIT VINTAGE: Located at 13 Williams Street in premises recently vacated by Ray White Real Estate when they moved next to Dayboro Bakery. Judith and her daughter Anna are offering a unique range of original vintage clothing and accessories from the 1950s to 1980s. The range includes vintage inspired clothing and accessories and quality preloved clothes and lots more. At present the opening hours are 9am to 5pm every day. DAYBORO DELI: Located at 12 Williams Street next to Sugarmill Creek. Dan and his wife Sarah have always worked in restaurants, cafes and even cruise liners and for some time had been looking for just the right spot to set up for themselves. The Dayboro Deli offers local and international cheeses, condiments and jams from around the world and other deli items. As well, they are open for breakfast and lunch 6 days a week, Tuesday through Sunday, from 8am to 3pm. Once every month or so they will also hold special dinner events, such as wine dinners and themed nights, for limited numbers. OTHER BUSINESS NEWS:
COUNTRY ROSE:
The shop remains open for business but the opening hours are still being decided. At the present time Country Rose is open Wednesday to Sunday – closed Monday and Tuesday. MAYA MAZE: Sadly, Karen has made the decision to close the business she opened just over two years ago. She will be closing at the end of February 2012 and the closing down sale has already started. Karen will be returning to Western Australia where all her family reside, and which she left some four years ago. EAGLE BOYS PIZZA: This business has been closed since the end of October and it is not known at this stage if it will be re-opened. “Dayboro Cottage” will be closed on Saturday/Sunday/Monday 24th to 26th December and Saturday 31st December Sunday 1st January 2012.
