Talks and meetings are back to normal in February after January cancellations due to floods. We would normally be experiencing the inevitable lull after the very busy time supporting the community's Pre- Christmas activities, but the flood has raised its ugly head, and Lions individuals are showing their community spirit by volunteering to help around the town.
You are invited to the next Lions dinner meeting on Monday 28th February. Come along for a chat and, if you would like a meal, let us know by Monday 21st February so I can ring through the meal numbers. Please phone Anita, 0421 521 448, or email

if you wish to order a meal for that meeting, or if no meal is required, just turn up!
When: Monday 28th February. Where: Dayboro Footy Club. Time: 7pm. Guest Speaker: Steve Hood talking about Prostrate Cancer. Steve is an Ambassador for Lions Men's Health. Meal Price: $13 payable on the night. (Meal Optional ) MOVIES: Harry Potter was successfully screened a few days after the flood, despite difficulties in advertising due to no January local newspapers, holidays, and the devastation in the town. But notices on the fabulous Police Station events board, and in shop windows did the trick. Thanks to Deb at the Rendezvous Cafe and Ron the Frying Scotsman for generating an audience of around 170. Next movie is scheduled to be Narnia, Voyage of the Dawn Treader on Sat 19th Feb, starting at 7pm. Cost $6pp, or $18 per household family. So for 2011, the Dayboro Lions are looking forward to a year of serving the community. New members are always welcome to join us, so if you have developed a wish to help the needy and be involved in the community, then please join us. We hold a business meeting on 2nd Monday of each month (on 14th Feb this time) and have an open dinner meeting on 4th Monday, as mentioned above. This is an easy-going group that always considers that members are volunteers. Phone our president, Malcolm, 0402 479 644. ….More Next Month Lion Ian |
