Weren’t we fortunate with the weather?  We were looking skyward and praying for good weather and we got it.
Firstly a big thank you to all our helpers. It really is wonderful to live in a community who bands together and helps out when needed.  Just a couple of phone calls and we have a great work force for the weekend.  Thank you all.  It could not be done without you.  Everyone on the committee is a volunteer and we do our best to make it run as smoothly as possible.
The Uniting Church band of helpers rallied again to supply us with lunch for our award winners and our SES volunteers.  Thanks go to Paul and Robyn and a wonderful group of people.
The parade was again a great success.  It just gets better and better.  Thanks go to Tarn Needs and her offsiders Patti, Barbara and Nikita.
Our Dayboro Day Debate Debacle went off well.  I have only heard good reports about this event.  Thank you to Adam, our teams, Steve Durley, Sharon Durley, Joe Calam, Rob Goldstiver, Wendy Keeble and Wayne James and to Bob Miller and Danny Nugent for their judging skills and diplomacy.  I think this event is a keeper.
Our Wacky Wheelbarrow Relay went well.  Thank you to Melissa for again organising this event.  The jury is still out as to whether the teams or the crowd had the best time with this event.  We will see what turns up for 2011 for the boys and girls to have fun with.  Thanks to all our teams for your time and effort.
The entertainment was just the best.  Thank you to all who entertained us throughout the day. Lexie Bell did a wonderful job with the program for both stages.  Thank you Lexie for a great day filled with great entertainment.  Lexie is also in charge of the Kids Passport to Fun and what a great time the kids had with that.  There were more passports than 2009, but it looks like we will have to add on another 100 for 2011.  We had hundreds of very happy children. But wait, there’s more. Lexie also sources our sponsorship/donations for the festival.  Thank you to all those who donated to the day.  You helped make it the success it was, and a big thank you to Lexie for all your hard work.  Lexie is one of my best friends and, without her support this year, I don’t know what I would have done. Thank you Lexie for being there for me.
I would also like to thank Craig for the use of his helicopter again this year.  ALL proceeds from the chopper rides will go back into the Dayboro Community.  Thank you to Craig Doyle for also sponsoring the entertainment on the stage in Lions Park.  I would also like to add a BIG thank you to our Pilot and Ground Crew.  They work tirelessly throughout the day AND they are not even from Dayboro.  I do think by the end of the day they have earned the title of honorary Dayboroite!  Linda Conyard, thank you for your wonderful work at the Chopper rides.  Linda was there most of the day ‘waiting’ for her gazebo to come.  Maybe next year the boys will get it there for you.
We would be lost without our ‘Spruikers’ on the day, so thank you Adam, Dale and Helen for all your help with our festival. They were all brilliant and helped keep the day festive, and us informed.
Thank you to Scott and Virginia from Dayboro Bakery, who donated the Cream Buns and the Pineapple Pies for our fun events.  Also thanks to Lexie and Natalie who ‘oversee’ and sometimes participate in these events.  I think Lexie just does it so she can eat Cream Buns!  Dayboro Bakery are also our sponsors for the Kids Passport to Fun.
Now, who have I missed out?
Ken and Troy, our Dayboro law enforcement officers, thank you for being there.  Ken arranges the security, the road closures and the Mounted Police for us.  Thanks guys for all your help.
Bronte from Moreton Bay Regional Council was a great help on and before the festival, so thank you Bronte.  Thank you also to Councillor Bob Millar for all your help ‘behind the scenes’.  I know you are a great supporter of Dayboro Day Festival.  Moreton Bay Regional Council offers us heaps of  in-kind support, without which, our day could not run as successfully and efficiently as it does.  Thank you also to the guys we do not see from MBRC.  Those that are there for the road closures and the rubbish removal.  It was just great to have you fella’s on board this year.  It made the end of day clean up so much easier.
SES, are another great team of people who donate their time to help us out every year.  They deal with traffic safety procedures due to the road closure, and do their job very well. Thank you guys.
St John volunteers were kept busy during the day and we do thank them for their time and patience.  They are a very necessary part of our day.
Steve Adcock is our ‘go to’ man on the day.  Thanks Steve for all your work on the day.  Just one word and Steve was off to help out wherever possible.  Steve’s team of helpers include: Burnie Bell, Chris Williams, Richard Farquharson, Glenn Bell, Steve Arkell, Nev Waldock, Ron Abernethy, Darryl Wheeler, Tony Gardener, Ian Flinders, Sue Flinders, Michael, Danny Van Der Maat, Anita Van Der Maat, George Thompson, Joanne Hohns, Mike Lewis, Linda Lewis and all our Dayboro Apex boys, and to Dayboro Dodgers for their great help with the tidy up.  If you were there helping and I have not acknowledged you, please except my thanks for all your help.
Thank you to our local papers for all your help with advertising.  The Grapevine again had the Festival insert, letting people know where and when things were happening.
Thank you to Bronte, Maureen, Kristen, Patti, Edith, Frances, Di, Sharon and Mark and anyone else who stepped in and helped out at Dayboro Day Festival HQ tent.  This was a vital part of the festival having this tent manned all day.  They were info tent, lost children tent and Kids Passport tent.
Congratulations to our award winners for 2010

Dayboro Antique and Collectables Fair

What a day!  We had approximately 1300 people through the doors for our fair.  Tom Williams from Dayboro Shed Antiques has put on another successful event and for this I thank him.  Tom works very hard behind the scenes.  He deals with all the stall holders and advertising for the event and then backs up with the valuations on the day.  Tom has a helper for the valuations on the day, his name is Bob Farley.  Thank you Bob, another honorary Dayboroite, I really appreciate the work that goes into this event.  ALL profits from the entry fee and valuations benefit Dayboro in some way.  We have not yet decided where these dollars will go, but I will let you know ASAP.
Thank you too, to all those who donated tea towels for our display.  They were a great hit.  Jackie Wallace did a great job rounding them up and displayed them beautifully for the day. What will it be for next year Jackie?
We had some great helpers at the fair this year.  Thank you to Jackie Wallace for her ‘behind the scenes’ work and to Cheryl Waldock, Ericia Sammon, Maureen Bourke, Pauline Cruice, Barbara Abernethy, Pam and Roderick Cruice and Val Ebert for you help on the door.  Also a big thank you goes to Tom’s ‘people’ who helped Tom throughout the day with breakfast, crowd control, parking etc.  These people also earn the title of honorary Dayboroite.
Please forgive me if I have not thanked someone I should have.  The memory is slowly fading.  (Just ask the young ones at the IGA, they’ll tell you.)

It seems such a small thing to just say ‘Thank you’ to all of our helpers, but you know that it comes from the heart.  I really do appreciate everyone’s hard work, but I have to say, the one person I really rely on is my wonderful husband Mark.  Thank you Mark.  I know the mowing, gardening and weekends away suffer for a bit, but I, we, could not do it without you.  You have no idea the time that Mark puts in to the rosters for the festival.  It makes everything runs so much more smoothly.  Are we doing it again next time?  Of course we are!  Who would miss out on all this fun!
Now on a serious note, Mark and I will put our hands up for next year but, we would really like to hear from people who are willing to ‘learn’ the trade and take over the reins for 2012.  For Mark and me, 2011 will be the 10th year and we think it is time other people, dare I say, younger people, take over for 2012.  We will be here to back you up, but new people means fresh ideas and that is what a festival needs to continue on, strong and proud into the future.  Many people mentioned to the committee on Dayboro Day that they enjoy coming to the festival because it has such a friendly country feel about it.  This comment came from visitors and stall holders alike.  Changes have to be made gradually, but still have to be made for the betterment of the festival.
Thank you one and all
Till next year
Maria.
