NEXT MEETING: August 9. TIME: 7.30pm. VENUE: Dayboro Bowls Club. All Welcome!
PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RURAL NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH. BE AWARE, BE SAFE, BE ALERT
Thank you to those who came and worked on the Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) stand on Dayboro Day.
At our last NHW meeting our guest speaker was a traffic officer Chris Duryea. Chris explained some of the traffic rules to us and was very entertaining. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to come along Chris.
FOG LIGHTS
Winter is here now and that means foggy mornings and evenings. Don’t forget to use low beam when driving in foggy conditions and to allow for the decrease in visibility by slowing down. For those who have fog lights on their vehicles – don’t forget to turn them off when the fog dissipates. It is an offence to drive with fog lights on when they are not required. PENALTY: $40.00.
LOCK IT OR LOSE IT! Before you leave your car make sure all windows are up and doors locked. Not securing/locking your vehicle is an offence and you may get fined $40.00 for failing to do so. Did you know there are two kinds of car thieves from whom you need to protect your vehicle and any personal valuables in the vehicle. The opportunist car thief, who wants your vehicle as a means of transport and any valuables in the vehicle including cash, CD’s and GPS devices. The second is the professional thief who wants your vehicle for profit. They will strip it for parts or change the VIN to avoid detection when the vehicle is stolen. Protect your registration plates from theft. Using one way screws in your number plates can prevent your plates from being stolen. Please contact your local station for more information. - Always lock doors and close windows when your vehicle is unattended. - Keep valuables out of sight. - Install an effective anti-theft device. - Park your vehicle off the street, preferably in your yard. - If parking your vehicle on the street, select a well-lit area. - Signs indicating no valuables are left inside vehicles can be obtained from Petrie Crime Prevention.
