Children of the Dayboro Community Kindergarten have returned to the centre this month ready to tackle a busy and exciting second term.
Our first term was a great success as all 44 children began to adapt to their new environment.  The children were quick to explore the extensive outdoor play area, and enjoy the many inside activities that are available, such as arts and crafts, reading, puzzles, musical instruments and dress-ups.
The children’s sense of independence has been fostered by encouraging them to care for and arrange their own belongings; whilst their communication and socialization skills have progressed through activities such as morning talks and free play.  We are pleased to see many new friendships developing amongst children and parents alike.
The term culminated in an exciting Easter Egg hunt with the children not only finding lots of little eggs to fill their baskets, but some rather large rabbit footprints around the grounds.
The biggest event on our calendar for Term 2 is preparing for Dayboro Day on May 30.  The Kindy Stall will feature a game of “Hoopla” for the children with lots of exciting prizes to give away to lucky winners.  Juice poppers will be available for sale, as well as a great Recipe Book that has received contributions from many in our Kindy community.
At this time of year, it is easy to start running out of ideas for how to fill the children’s lunch boxes, so our Kindy Recipe Book may be just what you’re after.
All monies raised from Dayboro Day will go back into improving the Kindergarten for the benefit of both current and future attendees.  Please come and visit us on Dayboro Day, and give the children a wave and a cheer as they march by in the Parade.  As a community Kindergarten, we rely on the generous support we receive from local families and businesses.  A big thank-you to Graham Cleeland who helped out with a concrete slab for our new shed, and to MP Peter Dutton who has contributed financially to our Dayboro Day activities.
Kindy facilities are also being upgraded thanks to a grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.  The $11,734.84 grant is being used to purchase picnic tables for the playground;  new carpet squares and room dividers for the main Kindy room;  bike racks;  and a colour photocopier.
New Kindy Committee President, Robyn Dunsford, said all grants and donations are gladly received, and help the Centre to continue maintaining and upgrading essential resources.  “Kindy is a not-for-profit organization and, being community-based, we work to keep fees for our families as low as we can, so we really rely on grants programs and support from the business sector”, Robyn said.
ENROLMENTS:
If you are interested in enrolling your child at our beautiful Kindy, please come and see us to place your child’s name on our waiting list (which you can do in the financial year in which they turn one).  The Kindy is open between 9am and 2.30pm, Monday to Friday, and payment of a non-refundable $20 will secure your child’s place on the waiting list.  Also, don’t forget to keep us informed of any changes to your contact details once your child is registered.
