Dr Paul Inglis has accepted an invitation from the local congregation and the area council of the Uniting Church to extend his contract here until at least the end of 2012.
Paul and Robyn did not need too much encouragement to make this decision. They indicated that they considered it a great privilege to work in such a wonderful church and community.
With further plans for growing the congregation and providing more support for the community, the Inglis together with the leadership team at the Dayboro Uniting Church and the Dayboro Combined Churches Committee have plans to expand the welfare, chaplaincy, and family ministries. Some recent very generous donations to the Community Fund and the ongoing cooperation with the Medical Centre, Lions Club, together with a great team of casserole cooks and pantry delivery people, has helped us to meet the growing demand for assistance in the area. We also now have a handyman volunteer to assist special needs. With Christmas approaching two very different challenges confront our committees. How to provide the best possible presentation of the real meaning of Christmas to the community and how to help the many people who find this a difficult time for various reasons. Christmas services in the churches have seen increasing attendances in recent years and this year great celebrations are planned. But we can’t celebrate the birth of Jesus without responding to his call to serve each other. This year the number of people from needy, aged, infirm or lonely circumstances receiving Christmas hampers will be increased to match the growing need. Thanks to many people in the community who drop into the Electricity Credit Union and leave donations or parcels of food and gifts at the churches we are sure to meet the demand and spread the joy this year. Offers of support are always welcome – just phone 3425 3220. A Faith and Fun Club for primary school kids from years 5,6,7 will commence at the Uniting Church in February 2010. This after school program will be on Fridays, appropriately supervised, and open to all children in this age group. For more information about this kids club phone Wendy on 3425 2287. We extend to our community our hope for a very happy Christmas and a New Year full of God’s richest blessings. |
