mainly music’ program for young families has a big waiting list
In April we commenced a new program for kids aged 0 to 4 years and their parents.
mainly music is an international early childhood initiative run through churches over the last twenty years.
Young children and their caregivers enjoy music, rhyme, rhythm, creative dance and more.
They develop skills - co-ordination, fine motor movements, large motor movements, social interaction, appreciation of music and musical styles, and language development.
It has proven so popular we have more than enough people on the waiting list to start another group. Other churches in the district have been invited to pick up the program and take over our waiting list.
COMMUNITY RECOGNITION – JEANETTE EASLEA
All her adult life Jeanette Easlea has encouraged and supported other people.  She is a highly respected member of the Dayboro Uniting Church where for thirty years she has held the office of Elder.  Now the Church has decided to award her the rare honour of “Elder Emeritus” –  in recognition of her loyalty and hard work. In the full sense of the word, Jeanette has exercised her eldership in the Dayboro community with great sensitivity, compassion and love.
Very few of the older residents of Dayboro would not have experienced her wonderful personality and caring concern.  Family and friends have been invited to this special ceremony followed by a morning tea celebration at the newly extended Uniting Church facility in Williams Street, Dayboro on Sunday 22nd November at 8.30am.
Jeanette will be moving to a new apartment at North Lakes, early in 2010 and leaving the farm at Lacey’s Creek which has been her home all her married life.  Although this will be a big move for her, she will maintain a close relationship with the churches and community here.  We will still ask her to be a part of the music team and seek her advice on many matters.
The special ceremony acknowledging Jeanette’s contribution to life in Dayboro is open to everyone to attend.
Community Carols in the Park better than ever this year
The Dayboro Churches have planned a super community carols evening for Sunday 6th December in Cruice Park.  Turn up around 6.30pm and have your own picnic tea in the park.
The entertainment gets underway at 7pm.  The Pine Rivers Salvation Army Band, the Ultimate Entertainment Company direct from Westfield Shopping Centres, the Dayboro School Choir, country and western singer Rob Black, The Churches Choir, the mainly music team, the Kids Drama group and several big surprises will dazzle the audience under the stars.  Of course if we have some beautiful rain, we just move to the Public Hall (as usual).
The whole night is free and guaranteed to be a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit.
Free coffee and cake will be available at the close of the evening’s event.
TWO CHURCHES COME TOGETHER AT MT MEE
In a major first for the area the Uniting and Anglican Church congregations using the Mt Mee Uniting Church will combine from the beginning of 2010 and have set themselves a goal to sign a covenant of cooperation in 2011.
As they become one congregation worshipping together, they will also combine their resources to address the needs of the local community.  They will be working under a ‘framework of action’ that has been designed by leaders of the Anglican, Catholic, Lutheran and Uniting Churches in Queensland.  The two ministers, Dr Paul Inglis (Uniting) and Dr George Henry (Anglican) will alternate as pastors to the amalgamated congregation.
Many rural communities have long wanted their churches to come together and the Mt Mee initiative, whilst having its own unique characteristics, is part of a growing trend in country areas.  With denominational boundaries continuing to fade, the Mt Mee Church welcomes people from all Christian traditions.
