NEXT PROGRESS ASSOC. MEETING:Thursday 18th June 2009. WHAT!!!! NO SUPER HIGH-SPEED BROADBAND FOR DAYBORO!!!???
How does 12Mbps compare to the 100Mbps proposed for the larger centres!! ??
At our May meeting it was brought to our attention that Dayboro would be excluded from the Federal Government’s High-Speed Broadband initiative, based on figures that indicated our population as being under 1000.
It was decided that this should be followed up on because we felt that the population figure used was incorrect (outdated), and also because of the potential negative impact on the future growth of this area.
We will be inviting relevant political representatives to attend our June meeting to speak about this issue, answer questions and seek to have them relay our views to the Federal, State and Local government spheres. Come along to indicate your concerns with this issue! Meeting begins 6.30pm at the Council Rooms, 28 Williams Street, Dayboro. Just before this edition reaches you another Dayboro Day Festival will have been held. How was your day?
CENOTAPH MEETING REPORT - Thursday 21st May 2009:
There was a total of 19 attendees at this public meeting. Whilst it was realised that the ‘wild weather’ experienced prior to this evening may have deterred some from attending, there had not been a ‘deluge’ of phone calls from people indicating that they had hoped to attend but could not. Advised as being held in conjunction with the Progress Association meeting, and with a contact phone number for the association being listed on the “Community Contact List”, there would have been an opportunity to advise if interested. After an address by Bill Rowe and Richard Hawkins, there was ample opportunity for all attendees to express their point of view. It was decided to call for a show of hands to indicate support or objection to the proposal to re-locate the Cenotaph from its present position, in the grounds of the Dayboro State School, to Roderick Cruice Park. The final score was: 12 for; 3 against, whilst 4 abstained. |
