TO REPORT A FIRE: RING 000
Well the silly season has been and gone and I hope that everyone had an enjoyable festive season and is now ready for the year ahead.
Trevor BrownDecember saw the brigade have their annual Christmas party with plenty of food and good times had by all, especially by the kids on the water slide (big and small). A special thanks goes out to all of the people who helped out on the day. Luck was on our side throughout late November and December with much needed rain arriving to fill our tanks and to soak the ground. Due to the amount of rain that we enjoyed, the fire risk was greatly reduced over the break, however, we as property owners, need to be aware of the amount of fuel loading present on our properties i.e. long grass, timber stacks etc. A few short weeks of hot dry weather can turn your lush green long grass into a potential hazard. Contact your local brigade or fire wardens about risk management on your property. It is much easier to approach us and ask us for advice and permits before the fire that you just lit is racing up the hill towards your house or maybe even the neighbour’s place. REMEMBER: NO PERMIT NO FIRE If you are unsure or would like more information, Rural Fire Wardens and Rural Fire Officers are listed in your local directories or visit www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au SRFB Chairman |
