The Ocean View Rural Fire Brigade would like to extend a warm invitation to all local residents to share in our 50th birthday celebrations. The Brigade opened its doors on 30 September 1960 and has set Sunday 26 September 2010 as the date on which we, as a community, will reflect on the wonderful work of the Brigade over the last 50 years to provide security and safety for our homes and properties.
Leading up to this occasion, we have been putting the finishing touches on a major refurbishment of our meeting and training area, headed by Athol Chapman, one of our members. We will also be showing off a new extension to our station to house one of our appliances. Come along and share in celebrating a group of people, past and present, who have made a significant contribution to the welfare of our community. Formalities include a brief history of the Brigade and the opening of the new facilities, but will be kept to a minimum to allow you the opportunity to mingle with our “firies” and your neighbours. Memorabilia will be on display. Lunch will be provided. Please let our Secretary, Rob Humphreys, know if you are coming so that we can adequately cater for the occasion. His contact details are as follows: Phone: 3825 8432; Mobile: 0412 736 981 Email: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it You are also welcome to attend our Biennial General Meeting to be held on Saturday 18 September at 10.30 am. In addition to the Annual Reports of our Fire Warden and First Officer, there will be an election of office bearers for the ensuing two years. This is your opportunity to play a part in a local organisation that provides a local service for local homes; a service that is in the business of saving lives and saving property. Lunch will be provided. Again, please let our Secretary know if you are coming. |
