Moreton Bay Regional Council is giving the region’s men an adrenaline boost.Mayor Allan Sutherland said Adrenaline was a new physical activity program designed to help the region’s men get off the couch and into a host of blood pumping recreational opportunities. “Adrenaline is anything but a walk in the park, it’s a challenge to blokes to move out of their comfort zones with a whole host of new and exhilarating sporting experiences,” Mayor Sutherland said. “With kite surfing, pocket bike racing, jet skis and clay target shooting, to name just a few, we’re turning up the adrenaline for men in the Moreton Bay region. “It’s a program aimed at raising the heart rates of local men aged 18 and over and builds on the success of council’s Adventure Women and Older and Bolder programs. "There's clear evidence that the prevalence of obesity in Australia has more than doubled in the past 20 years and men are carrying the brunt of our national weight gain. “It's estimated two thirds of Australian men are over-weight or obese and programs like Adrenaline are one way we can help the Moreton Bay region become one of the healthiest in South-East Queensland.” Other Adrenaline activities include golf, board surfing, barefoot bowls and horse riding with costs subsidised by Moreton Bay Regional Council. There are places available for Adrenaline over two rounds, the first running during February and March, the second from April until May. |
