National Families Week

National Families Week will be held between 15 and 21 May 2010 and will coincide with the United Nations International Day of Families on 15 May.
The central aim of National Families Week 2010 is to celebrate the vital role that families play.  This year’s theme is the best start: supporting happy, healthy childhoods.
Businesses and community groups can get involved by holding an event to recognise the importance of families.  Some suggestions include a morning tea for staff and their families, a staff display board for photos of their families or a seminar on an issue relevant to families with young children.
For more ideas, promotional products and to register an event go to www.familiesaustrailia.com.au  or for   further information call 02 6273 4885 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
Red Shield Appeal
As the Pine Rivers Area Red Shield Appeal Chairman I would like to take the chance to remind you that the official doorknock will take place between 29 and 30 May 2010.
The Salvation Army relies on donations to provide community service programs from aged care, youth homelessness, counselling, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, employment services just to name a few.
The Red Shield Appeal is our major fundraiser for 2010 and your generosity will again make a difference to over a million Australians in need.
Over 100,000 volunteers will help with this year’s appeal including many of our local high school students who give up their time to provide the many teams who do a tremendous job doorknocking. People can donate when a volunteer knocks on their door; by calling 13 72 58;  online at www.salvos.org.au/rsaopen ;  or at any Westpac Branch.
