Moreton Bay Regional Council has joined forces with the State Government to assist local business and help improve performance.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said the Government would provide $240,000 over two years to develop a Skills Formation Strategy to attract, recruit, skill and retain workers in the Redcliffe-Dakabin corridor.
“A number of companies in this corridor have expressed a need for comprehensive workforce planning to ensure future growth isn’t restrained by a lack of skilled employees,” he said.
“Through the Government’s Skills Information Strategy initiative, local enterprise will now have an opportunity to drive this process which is so important to their economic prosperity.” Cr Sutherland said the Redcliffe-Dakabin corridor had a diverse economy and was significant for the region. “It contains timber, steel and manufacturing businesses to the north; North Lakes with its growing retail, health and service industries through to Redcliffe with health, service industries, retail and tourism,” he said. “The outcomes from this project will have a direct impact on all other areas and business in the Moreton Bay region. It is another example of how council and the State Government can work together with the common goal of bettering the region and its economy,” Cr Sutherland said. |
