Some new jewels in the nine-day Pine Rivers Festival line up helped attract about 30,000 to the various events this year.
Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland said organisers were extremely pleased that the new Top Gear Race Day at Lakeside Park and the Stepping out - Back to the 40s celebrations at Old Petrie Town had been such a success and that festival favourites like Dayboro Day and the Hills Carnivale had continued to attract the crowds.
“As always, Dayboro Day was immensely popular, with more than 10,000 taking advantage of Sunday’s fine autumn weather to enjoy activities and entertainment including live bands, market stalls, antiques, and competitions,” he said.
“And it was pleasing to see that Friday night’s rain didn’t deter the crowds who admired about 180 classic and custom cars at Rodz Rock’n’ Roll at Strathpine’s Pine Rivers Park on Saturday.
Organisers estimated about 5,000 people attended throughout the day.  Because of the rain our car numbers were down, but there was still plenty of entertainment to keep everyone happy.  The Dean Z Showcase and Soul Classics Show featuring Bobby Brooks Hamilton were a hit and fireworks topped off a great day.
Hills Carnivale attracted around 5,000, while organisers estimate about 3,500 attended the Top Gear Race Day and about 4,000 visited the 40s celebrations at Old Petrie Town.
Our mystery bus tours were also well patronised this year.
All in all, it was a terrific festival and I’m sure those who attended will already be looking forward to next year.”
