Time is running out to formally recognise a unique Australian with Australia Day Awards nominations closing on Oct 28.
Sporting, environmental, community and cultural groups are urged to nominate at least one person among them who is worthy of special recognition for their selfless commitment to a worthwhile cause or improving the lives of others.
The 2010 Australia Day Awards categories include:
 - Citizen of the Year,
 - Young Citizen of the year (under 25 yrs as at 26 Jan 2010),
 - Sportsperson of the Year,
 - Environmental Achievement,
 - Community Event,
 - Young Sportsperson of the Year (under 25 yrs as at 26 Jan 2010),
 - Special Achievement and
 - Cultural Award.
Nomination forms are available at council libraries, customer service centres  and on-line: www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au
Winners of the award categories will be announced at the gala 2010 Australia Day Awards celebration at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre, Saturday, January 23, 2010.
