State Member for Pine Rivers, Carolyn Male MP today welcomed the Federal Government’s recent funding announcement for Queensland schools.
Carolyn Male said that seven local schools would benefit from up to $1,274,999 funding from Round One of the National School Pride Program.
“The program is the first phase of the Australian Governments’ $14.7 billion Building the Education Revolution,” Carolyn Male said.
“The funding provides for minor infrastructure and refurbishment projects in Queensland schools and will help ensure the best learning environment for our students.”
“Local schools will benefit from funding for projects ranging from shade structures to classroom upgrades.”
Carolyn Male said schools to benefit from funding include:
      Bray Park State High School
      Bray Park State School
      Dayboro State School
      Lawnton State School
      Pine Rivers State High School
      Strathpine State School
      Strathpine West State School
“Importantly, the funding will help create jobs for local tradespeople bringing economic benefits to communities throughout the state,” Carolyn Male said.
Minister for Education and Training Geoff Wilson encouraged Queensland schools to apply for the next round of the National School Pride program.
“Round Two of the National School Pride program will close on 8 May 2009,” Mr Wilson said.
“By working together with the Federal Government we can continue to meet the needs of Queensland students now and into the future.”
