The Dayboro community will be delighted to know that a Dayboro First Responders Group has been officially approved for the area. First Responders will greatly support the already stretched resources of the local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) by attending local accidents and medical emergencies to provide life saving first aid until the arrival of advanced medical care. This was the second submission that Chresten Reville (Local Advanced Care Paramedic) and Craig Ferguson (Local Ambulance Committee Member) have presented to the QAS within the last 18 months and this one was more than 6 months in preparation.

On Wednesday 2^nd of January 2008, a meeting was held in Dayboro, between Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Area Director, Peter Chatman; QAS Clinical Support Officer, Darrin Burgess; Acting Officer in charge QAS Dayboro, John Piasecki; Advanced Care Paramedic QAS Dayboro, Chresten Reville and Dayboro Local Ambulance Committee Member Craig Ferguson. The meeting included discussion of recent criteria changes and the current position and abilities of our one man station. In closing, Peter Chatman as Area Director of QAS agreed that a First Responders Group is a much needed resource within this area and accordingly approved the formation of the Dayboro First Responders Group and all subsequent funding for the setting up and running of the group.

An ENORMOUS thank you goes to Cr Bob Millar, Federal Member for Dickson Peter Dutton and to the 60 local businesses and associations who have helped and supported this submission.

We have already had a huge response from community members who are interested in becoming a member of the First Responders Group. If you think you would like to become a Dayboro First Responder or would just like to learn more about their roles and responsibilities and how they will be utilized within this community please come along to the public meeting that will be held at the Dayboro Ambulance Station (140 McKenzie Street, Dayboro) on Wednesday 5^th March 2008 at 6:30pm. A light supper will be provided.
