DAYBORO DAY FESTIVAL & ANTIQUES & COLLECTABLES FAIRSunday 30th MAY 2010 FESTIVAL PLANNING:
Have you thought about how your club or group will be getting involved for this year’s festival?
Remember, if you wish to have a stall or a display, you will need to have submitted an appropriate Application Form. Contact Maria on 0438 897 279. The Raft Race will be retired from the activities list for the 2010 festival. Here are a couple of the new events for our Festival this year: DEBATING - DAYBORO STYLE We will show you how debating should be done, well it’s the way we do it anyway. We are a special breed out here; just ask us, we’ll tell you. We’re not shy or modest. Our hand chosen teams (we just got a few people together who were willing to act silly on stage) will be debating the delicate subject of: ‘Should Dayboro be the capital of Queensland?’ Now you may think this is funny but it is very serious business. The Great Dayboro Day Debate Debacle. Are there too many D’s in that? We could debate it! Come along, cheer on the teams and have yourself a good old fashioned belly laugh. WACKY WHEELBARROW RELAY - Bushranger Style Only in DAYBORO could this be an EVENT. Yes, we have retired the Waterless Raft Race. Oh no I heard you sigh, but wait there’s more . . . . In its place we have the Wacky Wheelbarrow Relay - 2010 will be a Bushranger theme. The teams will be encouraged to dress as bushrangers and decorate their wheelbarrows accordingly. Our local ‘Not for Profit’ Community groups will be invited to compete in this mighty relay. We like to give money to our Local Community groups; however, we like to make them work for it. Well you know, you start giving money out willy nilly and they start to expect it and we can’t have that. There is a Bushrangers Code (Rules and Conditions) Our Local Community Groups will receive Wanted Posters (Application Forms) in the mail. Four persons per team. Two relay members will be at the Bakery end and two at the Bridge. Team members must be over 15 years old to compete. Bags of gold at one end and barrels of rum at the other, what a way to go! First team to have their gold and rum in the marked area and have adhered to the Bushrangers Code will be judged the winners. Every team will receive a prize but there will be a substantial first prize pot of gold. Ahh the possibilities are endless. I wanted to call it Wacky Wheelbarrow Welay but I was outvoted - no sense of adventure. I’ll work on them for next year. See you all on Sunday 30th May 2010 for our Dayboro Day Festival. |
